The Authenticity in Sorrento

Sorrento is an ancient town with 2500 years of history. Beyond the crowds and tourist spots, a community of locals continues to preserve the authentic spirit of the land: from traditional food and wine culture to the ancient crafts passed down through generations.

A local expert will guide you through the town, highlighting the contrast between the old and the new city, offering scenic viewpoints, quaint historic churches, and artisan workshops—where leather is still hand-stitched and wood is delicately inlaid by masters of the craft.

After the tour, a private driver will take you into the peaceful hills of nearby Piano di Sorrento, a lesser-known gem just a couple of miles away. There, you'll meet Giulia and her husband Aniello, local winemakers beloved by the community. It’s not unusual to see locals showing up with bottles or demijohns in hand, ready to refill directly from the winery’s ageing silos.

Giulia, with her bright and welcoming spirit, will guide you through the story of their winemaking journey, which began in the 1960s, when they made wine solely for family use. You'll learn every step of the process, from grape harvesting (strictly from the Sorrento Peninsula) to cellar ageing. The wine tasting of 5 local wines will take place in their centuries-old lemon grove, a breathtaking and peaceful setting owned by the family for generations.

The last stop is lunch at a typical Osteria located on another hill of the Lattari Mountains. The venue is the perfect setting for a living nativity (presepe), and Camillo, the innkeeper, has a single motto: no stress. He intends to use only and exclusively local products, sometimes distorting traditional dishes with great skill. While you enjoy the peculiar view of the hills that frame the sea, you can taste the catch of the day, high-quality steaks and local dairy products, because you need to remember: You are in the land of mozzarella!
