Mozzarella Making Show
And a centuries-old citrus grove tour at a local dairy near sorrento

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento and head to a timeless hilltop village, just 20 minutes away. There, you’ll be welcomed by Elsa, a local woman who will warmly introduce you to the small community gathered around the village church and guide you through a historic citrus grove dating back to 1893.
Her family produces the renowned Sorrento Lemon I.G.P. and Penisola Sorrentina D.O.P. Extra Virgin Olive Oil. But that’s not all! The organic garden is bursting with aromatic herbs, fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers — you might even spot watermelons growing among them. Refresh yourself with a homemade lemonade and get ready for the next adventure.
Hop aboard the iconic Ape Calessino and ride through the village’s narrow winding lanes (only locals born and raised here can navigate them with ease), all while admiring breathtaking views of the Sorrento coastline and the island of Ischia.
At the dairy, you’ll enjoy a tasting of their extra virgin olive oil and the beloved Provolone del Monaco D.O.P., a stretched-curd cheese highly prized by locals, paired with a glass of regional wine and limoncello, the typical lemon liquor.
Finally, it’s time for the Mozzarella-Making Show: the master cheesemaker will show you how to make Fior di Latte mozzarella and Caciottina, revealing the secrets behind each step of the preparation process. Then comes the best part — tasting the “white gold” of the Sorrento Peninsula.
As the comedian Totò once said in the film "Poverty and Nobility" (original title: "Miseria e Nobiltà"): “Take the mozzarella between two fingers like this, give it a squeeze — if the milk runs, it’s good. If not, better leave it be.”
